Teaching Cleveland is fortunate to have numerous community partners who do an incredible job of helping educators connect their students to Cleveland. These organizations provide expertise, insight and experiences for both educators and students. Destination Cleveland has been our partner for six years, helping to kick-off Teaching Cleveland Institutes (TCIs) in 2014 and 2015.

Destination Cleveland’s contributions have been invaluable as its staff has assisted in contextualizing current Cleveland trends and efforts to increase community connections for teachers and residents. As a part of the TCI Learning Lab series this past academic year, Nicole Canitano, visitor experience program manager, shared the organization’s efforts to create unique visitor experiences. Teachers discussed ways students could develop their own visitor experiences with the help of Destination Cleveland.

Destination Cleveland and Teaching Cleveland share one important passion:  trying to create and spread a love place.  Both have been working hard to connect residents and outsiders to the essential uniqueness of Cleveland, its history, and its opportunities. The partnership with Destination Cleveland has helped Teaching Cleveland tell the region’s story, promote the region’s success, and to explore the many possibilities moving forward.

Destination Cleveland supports Teaching Cleveland’s work of trying to ensure that Cleveland’s students are well educated about the city in which they live and learn.  It is so vital to our region’s future. By knowing where they came from – including our challenges and opportunities – they are able to become engaged and informed citizens. In addition to Destination Cleveland’s participation in Teaching Cleveland Institutes and the TCI Learning Lab Series, we’re pleased to share our planning resources, including a new digital Resident Resource Guide, with Teaching Cleveland’s program participants.

“The team at Destination Cleveland always appreciates the opportunity to work with Teaching Cleveland to help our residents further their understanding about what makes Cleveland a destination city, the big events that are coming to town that will help redefine Cleveland’s narrative and the experiences that are available to share with visiting family and friends. The Teaching Cleveland team makes it simple for our team to reach an important group of residents.”

– Hannah Belsito, Chief Experience Officer, Destination Cleveland
