Books on Cleveland History: Cleveland Landmarks Press

In 1980, it seemed Cleveland didn’t have much going for it, community spirit was on the wane, and few books about the city found their way into print. Dan Cook and Jim Toman decided to try to do something about it.

They established Cleveland Landmarks Press (CLP) that year with a mission to produce books about the city’s landmarks and its key events.

The first book was The Terminal Tower Complex, celebrating that landmark’s golden anniversary. In 1997, Greg Deegan became a partner in the company. By 2023, CLP had published 43 books.

In 2024, CLP became a part of Teaching Cleveland. Moving forward, every CLP book published will support the mission and vision of Teaching Cleveland – to help people understand their history and how it shapes our present and future.

We hope Greater Clevelanders and former Greater Clevelanders can find in these books information to enhance their knowledge of the city and to rekindle fond memories of days gone by. CLP remains committed to preserving the history of the city, and to tell so many stories yet to be told.

So, if you’re looking for books on Cleveland’s history, you have found the right spot.
