For Students
Cleveland’s story is your story — and the future of the city depends on how you tell it. Teaching Cleveland’s student programs give you the chance to explore the people, places, and policies that have shaped our community — and to imagine what comes next.
Whether you’re uncovering the history of your neighborhood or developing real-world solutions to today’s challenges, you’ll gain skills that connect classroom learning to civic action.
Through programs like the Teaching Cleveland Student Challenge and the Fresh Water Institute Fellowship, students engage directly with the forces that have shaped Cleveland’s past and continue to define its future. You’ll work with peers, mentors, and community leaders to research local history, analyze policy issues, and design creative projects that promote civic understanding and change. These experiences build critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills — and deepen your connection to the place you call home.
Together, these opportunities help students build a love of place — and the knowledge to make that place stronger.
Teaching Cleveland Student Challenge
