Community Partners: Deaconness Foundation

A big thanks to the Deaconess Foundation for being a program partner for this year’s Teaching Cleveland Student Challenge, which is engaging more than 60 students from 12 area high schools to explore how we can create the workforce of the future in Northeast Ohio. Not only are they a supporter of the program, but the Deaconess staff helped connect Teaching Cleveland to the incredible work of local organizations like MAGNET, Greater Cleveland Works, the Greater Cleveland Career Consortium, and Team NEO, to name a few.

The Deaconess Foundation is a faith-based, grant-making organization that focuses on improving the health and well-being of children and communities through philanthropy and advocacy. It operates to promote health, justice, social justice, and liberation, with a particular focus on racial justice and workforce development in Northeast Ohio. The foundation provides funding for initiatives that support education, advocates for policy reform, and builds community power to address systemic issues.

The Deaconess Foundation helps individuals impacted by poverty build careers that provide economic stability by investing in the workforce ecosystem, including nonprofits focused on workforce development and career pathways. Through a combination of funding, advocacy, organizing efforts, and policy work to build power and transform systems, the Deaconess Foundation is actively working to build a future where a community can freely exist, dream, and thrive, with dignity and respect for all its members. Thanks, Deaconess, for your partnership and support!
